The truth is, no one of us can be free until everybody is free No one of us can be free Until everybody is free People have to develop courage In your heart, you have to have courage Courage The truth is, no one of us can be free until everybody is free No one of us can be free Until everybody is free

about

Built around a vocal sample taken from an interview with Dr. Maya Angelou, “Until Everybody is Free” is a cheeky subversion of diva house: Soft-spoken words with a sassy beat. A smooth swarm of synth sounds hover above raw, syncopated percussion and a rubbery, bouncing bassline, laying the framework for the doctor's orders. With a glossy finish that's unmistakably contemporary, the track nonetheless honors the heyday of house music, a genre inextricably linked to intersectional identities and struggles.
